Update on my project as of 3/27/18
My plan was to begin posting student honors theses to the College’s institutional repository on the DSpace platform, but there are still several hurdles that need to be surmounted before the posting of theses can begin. A survey has been created by the library committee to be administered to all department heads. The survey addresses several points: 1) does the department approve of the posting of honors theses electronically? 2) does the department approve of the library being a central gathering place for honors theses going forward? 3) what is the department’s process currently for gathering theses? 4) has permission been granted by the student author for electronic posting of theses, and how could this most efficiently happen going forward? 5) how would theses be delivered to the library? Once this survey is administered, a determination can be made about how to move forward with the project.
